Zara Basic Top and Club Monaco Skirt OOTD

I don't know where other bloggers find beautiful urban areas that are completely devoid of people. I feel like every time I want to take an OOTD I always feel that flush of embarrassment when other people are watching. However, I wore this outfit to go on a date with Boyfriend to the Harvard Art Museums. So it was a good excuse to act like tourists and take photos all over the Harvard Yard.

I love black skirts, I think they're a versatile and staple piece to anyone's wardrobe and I treat buying black skirts like my second job. I saw this one for sale at Club Monaco (Who's surprised at all that I shop there) and I knew I had to grab it. I felt the fit was very flattering and the texture of the skirt makes it able to break up monochrome outfits and also double as an interesting color-blocking piece.

I paired this guy with a Zara Basic top, the Talbots Peggy sandals that have been glued to my feet all summer, and my Chanel Purse. I never take it out, but I thought I would this time.

Minty Lace OOTD

Outfit: Top: Club Monaco (Old), Skirt: &Other Stories, Bag: Coach Penny Purse
Oh hey there! This is the other skirt that I purchased from the &Other Stories summer sale. If you missed the other things I bought from them, you can check out my previous posts. With this skirt I really fell in love with the pleating and the length. Not all midi skirts are old lady. I think the mint tones and the fabric give an ethereal feel to this look.

I paired this with my favorite Club Monaco lace top! Unfortunately it's from a couple of seasons ago, but I found a similar shirt on their website that's currently on sale! I've linked it here if you're interested.

Boyfriend and I did an impromptu walk around our local park, so I wore my low-heeled Talbots Peggy Sandals to match the overall light tones of this outfit. Still a little nurse-looking, but I like the way they pulled the outfit together.

Here's a close up detail of my lace top and the pleating on the skirt. I think they go well together, no?

As always, thank you so very much for reading!

Pink Tulip Skirt OOTD

Outfit Details: Top: Aritzia (Old), Skirt: &Other Stories (Similar), Sandals: Talbot's Peggy Sandals, Purse: Coach Penny Purse, Necklace: Givenchy
I think in the late summer, all I want to do is flounce about and relax while looking put together. This is the wrap skirt that I recently hauled from &Other Stories and I've been living in it. I think it's flirty, girly, and easy to match.

I wanted to keep the lines simple and clean for this outfit, so I paired this sweet, double-layered Silk Aritzia top with the tulip skirt. It seemed a little too light up top, so I added a blingy statement necklace to balance it out.

As with all my outfits of late, I've paired this with my Talbot's Peggy Sandals and my trusty Coach Penny Bag. They're my go-to staples for if I'm going to be walking around and don't want to carry anything too heavy out of the house.

Styling Staples: The Black Skater Skirt Part 3

Top: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Old), Bottom: Zara (Old), Purse: Coach (Old), Shoes: Talbots Peggy Sandals
In my previous post, I showed you how I styled this black skater skirt very casually and then jumped to the deep end of the pool with a preppy pink-blazer look. With this look I tried to find a happy medium between the two.

Which is I did with this slightly more preppy Marc Jacobs Collared Top. I liked the bright colors and the bold pattern printed on this blouse. The silk and short sleeves make the top bearable in the East Coast summer heat, but the top is lady-like enough to dress up or dress down.

I wore nurse shoes because we were preparing to walk around NYC the whole day, but you could switch them out for a pair of sleek black pumps, throw your hair in a high bun and be good to go for a swanky evening get together with friends.

Which is what I did here in this blurry iPhone photo. Hahaha. This was shortly after coming home, so if I'm extra greasy and sweaty in the photo...well. A long day will do that to you!! Especially in the New York heat!

Anyway, back to the nurse shoes. This is one of my favorite go to outfits a "striking top" and a tailored bottom and is final look in my "Styling Staples: the Black Skater Skirt" series. I hope you liked it! It was fun to do and show a versatile piece that I wear often in my wardrobe.

A Review: Talbots Peggy Sandals

Warning: Ugly Foot Heavy Post

I can't pretend anymore. I'm just an old lady. Low-heeled sandals are a must for me during the summer! As much as I love to stagger around in stilettos and hop about in heels, with all the casual walking I do it just isn't feasible. I was in the market to replace my Trina Sandals from Sam Edelman because they'd been absolutely destroyed.

Trina Sandal in Whiskey, Retails: $70
They used to look like this, but I wore them so much the leather straps were separating, the cork sole had worn away, and the gold heels were pretty badly scuffed. When Extra Petite mentioned she purchased Talbot's Peggy Sandals on her blog, I immediately went over and purchased some myself as well. I know, I know, I'm a bit of a blogger sheep. I did like the sandals and they were a slightly more "lady" version of my Sam Edelmans. They even had the same "gold accent" heel!

I purchased these during the Talbot's "Friends and Family Sale" where you could take 30% off your total purchase. At the time I believe these were full price at $119. Now they're on sale for $69.99! You can also apply eBates to your purchase to save some more money.

I got these guys in two colors to match the potential outfits that I would wear. In retrospect, it seems a little wasteful to get two colors like this, but both the colors fit into my wardrobe and I'm happy with how they look and feel.

I'm glad I got these guys on sale, I'm not sure if I would have paid full price for these. They're not poorly crafted, but I don't feel like they scream quality either. These shoes were manufactured in China, the straps are made with real leather, and they've put a light memory foam padding into the sole of the shoe. The memory foam makes the shoe comfortable. I was able to walk around New York City all day without pain, but they're not comparable to Cole Haan soles or anything.

Overall, I would highly recommend these shoes on sale. They're a good, low-heeled, comfortable sandal for the summer! They don't scream too "old lady" and I can easily incorporate the colors and styles into my current wardrobe. In addition to the two colors I bought, the Peggy Sandal also comes in Indigo Blue and Black as well.

I hope this helps!
